A look into my sketchbook.

Penguin Book Cover - Awards.

Here are some of my sketchbook workings so far leading up to the Penguin Book Cover Awards, which I am taking part in as part of my module at University.

I'm still playing around with compositions and techniques, however I have an idea of creating a desk/stationary space showing the diary, pen, pencil, ruler etc. As the whole thing is literally a diary and he is a school boy.

I want the colours to be neat and simple but also reflect teen angst a little. (As this reflects Adrian's personality) I want this book to be visually appealing to not only young teens but adults too.

I feel previous designs have been too childish. One comment made about the copy I have is 'it looks a bit girly.'

I want to be different and a bit daring with my design, but also keep it simple. Oh and reflect my illustration style of course.

So far I think it shall be black and white with the spot colour of orange.
